Inspect the switch

Run Get-VMSwitch and confirm the switch uses the intended physical adapters and embedded teaming configuration.

Check VLAN configuration

Use Get-VMNetworkAdapterVlan and verify whether the VM NIC should use access or trunk configuration. Match the host configuration to the physical switch ports.

Check the management adapter

Confirm the management OS adapter is attached to the intended vSwitch and that its IP, gateway and DNS settings are correct.

Check physical switch configuration

Verify the upstream switch ports support the required VLANs and that the teaming design matches the physical switch configuration.

Test from both directions

Test host-to-VM, VM-to-host and VM-to-gateway connectivity. A single successful ping does not prove VLAN and routing correctness.

Validate after changes

Retest all required VLANs and document the final vSwitch, adapter and VLAN configuration.
